Q: What is MAL Weekend?
A: Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend is a three-day long party and event with participants that now number in the thousands. The heart of the weekend is the historic leather formal Saturday evening cocktail social, Leather Cocktails. Leather Cocktails is the weekend lynchpin gathering from which all other weekend events evolved. The Weekend also includes official events organized by weekend hosts, Centaur MC that include a bustling Leather Exhibit Hall; Sunday brunch; Mr. MAL Contest and the official Sunday night closing party, REACTION. In addition, Weekend hosts provide hotel space for what has evolved into a huge leather-loving community and affinity annual reunion. Weekend participants may purchase a full weekend package that includes access to all events. Tickets to a few select events are sold separately.
Q: What are the benefits of a full weekend package?

Q: How can I purchase the full weekend package?
A: Go to the MAL Web site and purchase the package through Box Office Tickets. Or, simply click here.
Q: Can I purchase the full weekend package onsite during MAL Weekend?
A: While we do encourage early registration, you may also purchase a full weekend package at the Centaur MC Registration office located at the Hyatt Capitol Hill. Full weekend packages can only be purchased on the Friday of MAL weekend.
Q: Can I purchase individual tickets to Leather Cocktails and Sunday Brunch?
A: No. Admission to Leather Cocktails and Sunday Brunch is only available if you purchase the full weekend package. If you do not purchase the full weekend package, you will not be permitted to attend Leather Cocktail or Sunday Brunch.
Q: Can I purchase tickets to the Mr. MAL Contest?
A: Yes. Tickets are available at the Centaur Store at the Hyatt Capitol Hill throughout MAL Weekend and are $25.00 each.
Q: Can I purchase tickets to the REACTION Dance closing dance party?
A: Yes. Tickets are available for the closing dance party. Please visit the REACTION party page for information on purchasing tickets. Tickets are also available at the Centaur Store at the Hyatt Capitol Hill throughout MAL Weekend and are $35.00 each. Tickets sold at the door are $45 each.
Q: Do you sell day passes for MAL and what would a pass entitle me to?
A: A weekend admission pass is our lower cost option that provides access to the MAL social area in the hotel lobby, and Leather Exhibit Hall for the entire weekend. The weekend pass is sold throughout MAL weekend at the Hyatt in the Capitol Room A & B and is not available for purchase online. A single day or weekend pass does not include admission to official MAL Events — e.g., Leather Cocktails, Sunday Brunch, Mr. MAL Contest, REACTION dance or shuttle bus access.
Q: What is the pricing for passes?
A: The 3-day pass is $25 and includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday admission. A 2-day pass (Saturday and Sunday only) is $20. Finally, a 1-day day pass, issued on the day of your visit, is $10
Q: Is there a dress code for Leather Cocktails?
A: Yes. In keeping the time-honored tradition of Leather Cocktails, it is a formal event. We request that you dress in your best formal leather, boots, jeans, etc. NO BARE CHESTS AND NO EXPOSED BUTTOCKS WILL BE PERMITTED IN LEATHER COCKTAILS. Individuals who are not appropriately dressed will be turned away from Leather Cocktails. For more information about Leather Cocktails please visit our history page.
Q: What is the clothing/nudity policy for MAL Weekend?
A: Nudity is not allowed in the public areas of the hotel. You are able to walk around the hotel shirtless, in a jock or in chaps with a jock. When dining, your butt must be covered and at least have a vest on. When leaving the hotel, you must have at least a 1 inch strap covering your ass-crack.
Q: Where would I find information on making hotel reservations?
A: You must use the special MAL Weekend room reservation link, or phone number, 888-421-1442 to book a room. The basic room rate is $179 for both one and two people, and a 2-night stay required. You may also review room rates, etc., here on the Hotel page on the Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend site.
Q: Will I need my picture ID during the weekend?
A: Yes. You may be asked to present your picture ID to purchase alcohol. The bars in DC are also required to check ID of all persons entering their establishment to ensure they are 21 years of age or older.
Q: Are there restaurants around the host hotel?
A: There are dining options at the hotel . If you choose to eat at the hotel restaurant, your buttocks must be covered and wear at least a vest. Other nearby restaurants include:
Q: What is the closest Airport?
A: Reagan National Airport (DCA) is the closest airport. You can take the Yellow line Metro Rail downtown to Gallery Place and transfer to the Red line to the Union Station stop.
You can also fly in to BWI Airport. You have two choices – you can either take the MARC Train to Union Station; or take the B30 Metro Bus to the Greenbelt Metro Rail Station (Green Line). Take the Green Line to the Fort Totten stop and transfer to the Red Line. Take the Red line train to Union Station.
If you fly into Dulles Airport, there is a Metro Bus (5A) that will take you to the Rosslyn Metro Rail Station (Blue/Orange Line). Transfer at Metro Center to the Red Line. From there, you can take the Red Line Metro Rail Train into Union Station.

Q: What is the nearest Metro Rail stop?
A: Union Station on the Metro Rail Red Line. Exit Union Station at the First St, NE & Massachusetts Ave, NE exit and walk south to E St, NE. Follow E St, NE to New Jersey Ave, NW and turn left on New Jersey Ave, NW. (Approximately 4 blocks). You can use the WMATA Trip Planner to help you get around and be sure that services will be running when you need them!
Q: Are you able to provide more information about the shuttle bus?
A: Yes. There will be a shuttle bus that will run from 10:30pm to 2:30am on Friday and Saturday nights. The bus will leave the front of the Hyatt Capitol Hill and drop off in front of the Green Lantern and DC Eagle bars before returning to the host hotel. Riders must have a full weekend run pass to ride the shuttle.
On Sunday, the shuttle bus will run from approximately 10:30 pm to 4 am for the REACTION dance. The shuttle will operate between the Hyatt Regency and 9:30 Club. Riders must have a full weekend run pass to get on the bus.
Q: Is there a smoking area outside at the host hotel?
A: Yes. A smoking area is provided outside of the hotel entrance.
Q: Are there volunteer opportunities for MAL Weekend?
A: We appreciate volunteer requests but please note that nearly all volunteer assignments are handled by your hosts, Centaur MC. We continually develop and manage assigned tasks and will contact those individuals who have expressed an interest should we need assistance for the weekend.
